Julie Evans Bingham, Ph.D.

Who is Dr. Julie Bingham?  (That's a good question!)

As you have seen this website is shared by Drs. Julie and Rick Bingham.  We also share an office suite (and lots more, since we are married).  Our practices are separate, but we consult with one another regularly and provide collaborative treatment for many of the same patients/clients or families.

I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist, residing and working in Salem, OR.  I have a private practice working with children, adolescents and adults for clinical evaluation and ongoing psychotherapy (if indicated), and also conducting neuropsychological evaluations.  For people around who know me professionally, you could call Kaiser Permanente Skyline Mental Health and they will probably remember me, since I still conduct evaluations for them.

I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), Oregon Psychological Association (OPA) and the Willamette Valley Psychological Society (WVPS).  I have a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder--the home of the scientist-practitioner model.  (If you want to learn more about my therapeutic "style," click here).  I completed my internship at the University of Washington Medical School and my residency at Kaiser Permanente.  You might say that I have had broad-based training, meaning that I am a generalist and have learned to treat many different problems in both adults and kids.  This can be helpful because if you only know how to use a hammer, everything looks like a nail.  I also work hard to follow the research evidence showing what is helpful treatment for each problem, rather than "hammering" away without tailoring the treatment to fit the problem.  An additional focus has been medical psychology (making sure to recognize similar conditions which might have a medical rather than a psychological basis) and diversity training (making sure to provide treatment that is sensitive to differences between myself and those I treat and to use practices appropriate for different groups--following the research, again).

I am probably still listed as an "outside evaluator" for Salem-Keizer schools and work on a contract basis for other Marion-Polk school districts through Willamette Education Service District.  I provide neuropsychological evaluations for Kaiser-Permanente and am contracted as a provider for certain commercial insurance companies.  You can learn more about my insurance contracts.
